From nostalgia to passion: the origins of TCGfanshop
1999
We at TCGfanshop still vividly remember the golden days of 1999, when Pokémon cards were all the rage in the schoolyard. "Your Charizard for my Blastoise?" Or whoever could throw their card closest to the wall and win the bet. Let's go! Haha!
That was our first foray into the world of Trading Card Games. But as these things go, Pokémon quickly stopped being considered "cool" enough. Then came Dragon Ball Z , and suddenly everyone wanted to collect Goku cards. If only we'd known back then how much those cardboard cards would be worth today... we certainly wouldn't have left them lying around!
2021
Fast forward to 2021. The world was in lockdown, and so were we – no one was allowed outside after 9 PM. All the games had been played, YouTube videos had already been watched twice… Until suddenly, a guy named PokéREV started talking in his cluttered garage about some cool cards from Chilling Reign . That looked interesting! "Let me buy a booster box," I thought.
Masterset
The first box set contained some great hits, so a second soon followed. And then the idea struck: what if I collected a complete Master Set? After completing that set, my collecting frenzy only grew: I had to get all the Sword & Shield booster boxes!
Booster Box Rage
At one point, I was sitting there… with towering stacks of booster boxes. But how do I store and display them properly? After some research, I discovered someone who bought acrylic cases for his personal collection. Once home, with my boxes neatly protected in acrylic, I thought: we can do this too – and maybe even better!
